Park Renovation Plan

Keith Baker from the City of Panama City addressed those present at the BUSC Board Meeting last nigt.  He announced Panama City's commitment to reallocating the Frank Nelson "Baseball" Park as a SOCCER COMPLEX.  The city commissioners, mayor and city planners have worked out a 3 year plan to renovate the park and make it a true soccer complex.  The process will take 3 years.  In the end, we plan to have 4 playable soccer fields.  At this time it appears we can lay out 1-75x120 adult size field (which could also be used for 2 U10 fields if needed), and 3-50x75 fields.  All structures will be removed except the concessions and coaches' equipment buildings.

2013 Goals:  Remove all interior fencing and completely enclose the park to secure it from traffic while closed.  The city will address the pest and grass issues this summer with the goal of having grass by Labor Day.
What does this mean for our Club?  1.  We need as many helpers as possible this weekend the remove interior fences.  2.  Fun Day will be our last activity at Frank Nelson Park until Labor Day weekend.  We will announce tryout and camp locations once site is confirmed.  We ask that all of our members and coaches respect this request and stay off the fields this summer.

2014 Goals:  Level and sod/sprig the fields, address any additional irrigation needs.

2015 Goals:  Reposition all lighting.  Lighting will be competition grade lighting.

The board and members are most appreciative of President Tessie Goicoechea's effort to bring this project to the city and gain their support.  In addition, it goes without saying we could never thank the City of Panama City enough for their support to the sport of soccer.
