Designed for players to advance their core baseball skills including fielding, hitting, and base running; The J is excited to announce its new Training Academy.  The J will provide the coaches and equipment and all training sessions take place at the J’s new turf field complex (except for Winter session as noted below).

Phil Hannon serves as the Director of Instruction for the Academy.  Coach Hannon served as the Head coach for the Baker University Baseball team for 17 years before recently retiring.  Coach Hannon played and coached minor league baseball before taking the coaching position with Baker and also now serves as a part time scout.

Coach Hannon will directly oversee all aspects of the Academy including staff and curriculum.

Winter Baseball Training Academy
 The J will provide the coaches and equipment and all training sessions take place at the Kansas City Sports Club at 95th and Mission (3601 West 95th Street; Leawood, KS 66206).

Each session is limited to a maximum of 20 players.  Great opportunity for teammates to train in the off season.

November 11-February 25*

Current 4th/5th graders  Sundays or Mondays from 6-7:15 pm (register for a specific day of the week)

Current 6th-8th graders Sundays or Mondays from 7:15-8:30 pm (register for a specific day of the week)

Tuition: $195      $160 for J members
(may be broken up into two payments at checkout)

Each time slot is limited to maximum of 20 players.

Spring Baseball Training Academy
Set up to provide maximum flexibility, the Spring Academy allows participants to come one or more days per week based upon their schedule.  Easily work around sports and school schedules.  There is no limit to how many sessions one may attend each week.  All sessions take place at The J's turf field complex.

Great opportunity for teammates to train and prepare for the upcoming season.

March 4-April 16*

Current 4th/5th graders  Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:15 pm (come to one or more sessions each week)

Current 6th-8th graders Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15-8:30 pm (come to one or more sessions each week)

Tuition: $150     $110 for J members

Learn the proper pitching mechanics needed to become more consistent and lay the foundation for being able to increase pitching velocity while minimizing potential arm injuries.  Taught by knowledgeable coaches with a small player to coach ratio.  Timed to help young pitchers prepare for their spring/summer season.  Great opportunity for teams to have their pitchers hit the ground running by the start of the season.  All sessions will take place at The J's turf field complex.

Wednesdays, March 6-April 17 (will not meet on March 13)

3rd-5th Graders from 6 - 7 pm
6th-8th Graders from 7:15 - 8:15 pm

Tuition:  $105; with J member discount $80

3rd/4th Graders:  9:00 AM - 12 PM

5th/6th Graders:  1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Tuition: $150; with J member discount $110

Spring Break Advanced Baseball Training Camp for 7th and 8th Graders
The advanced Baseball Training Camp will have experienced coaches led by the J's Training Academy Director, Phillip Hannan, lead participants through drills and exercises to help provide each individual participant elevate their game in the areas of fielding, hitting and game play.  Each participant should bring a hat, glove, water bottle.  Other personal gear such as a helmet and bat are optional.

7th/8th Graders

March 11-14
