Youth Athletic Development

The J offers a variety of programs to help youth develop their foundational athletic abilities through Speed and Agility and Strength and Conditioning training classes.  Our Youth Athletic Development program is designed to teach athletes the correct way to build, develop, and improve functionality in all sports, giving them the ability to enhance their capabilities to perform at their very best. Athletes will be taught proper mechanics, and how to become a more explosive athlete while educating to prevent injuries during training.  All programs are overseen by The J's Fitness Department.

Speed and Agility Training



Our Youth Speed and Agility classes are designed to build, develop, and improve functionality and agility of athletes in all sports, giving them the ability to enhance their capabilities to perform at their very best. Athletes will be taught proper speed training, running mechanics, and how to become a more explosive athlete while educating to prevent injuries during training.

Now Offering two different levels - Fundamentals and Advanced 

The Fundamentals class is meant to establish a strong foundation and teach our athletes the verbiage and structure of our program.  The Advanced class allows for young athletes to progress and train with other athletes who are at a similar level of development. Both classes offer 2x/week session structure one day dedicated to linear speed and the other dedicated to multi-planar movement.

Athletes need to test into the advanced programming class. Prior class athletes know which class to enroll into, fundamentals or advanced. Testing will be completed prior to each session to establish a base line for each athlete and to determine placement. Call to schedule testing for your athlete.

The tenants of the program remain the same for both:

•             Improved coordination

•             Improved athletic posture and awareness

•             Emphasis on core development

•             Improved running and jumping technique

•             Overall conditioning and improved work capacity

Fall Session: Wednesday, September 4 – Wednesday, October 23
Ages 9-12

FUNDAMENTALS:  Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-5:20 pm
ADVANCED:  Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:20 pm
(Both groups meet from 4:30-5:20 pm on October 2 and 16)

Winter Session 1: November 4 – December 19
Ages 9-12

FUNDAMENTALS:  Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-5:20 pm (no class Nov 27)
ADVANCED:  Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5:20 pm (no class Nov 28)

Winter Session 2: January 6 –February 20
Ages 9-12

FUNDAMENTALS:  Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-5:20 pm (no class Nov 27)
ADVANCED:  Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5:20 pm (no class Nov 28)

($15 sibling discount)

Summer Camp

Winter Break Speed & Agility Boot Camp
For 10-14 year olds

This boot camp will focus on the overall strength and cardiovascular health of the athlete. Your child will learn proper technique for several age-appropriate exercises that utilize equipment including dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, and resistance bands. This camp will also have your child sweating and increasing their heart rate by using the various cardio modalities. The camp will also teach the athlete the proper way to warm up and cool down as well as several different techniques for preventing injury through stabilization and mobilization. This camp is great for athletes of all ages, ability levels, and sports interest.

The camp meets each day from 12-1:30 pm - Dec 26, 27, 30, 31 and Jan 2, 3 in the indoor turf space at The J

Session Fee:  $200, with J member discount $135
