Youth Athletic Development

The J offers a variety of programs to help youth develop their foundational athletic abilities through Speed and Agility and Strength and Conditioning training classes.  Our Youth Athletic Development program is designed to teach athletes the correct way to build, develop, and improve functionality in all sports, giving them the ability to enhance their capabilities to perform at their very best. Athletes will be taught proper mechanics, and how to become a more explosive athlete while educating to prevent injuries during training.  All programs are overseen by DJ Davis of The J's Fitness Department.

Speed and Agility Training



Our Youth Speed and Agility classes are designed to build, develop, and improve functionality and agility of athletes in all sports, giving them the ability to enhance their capabilities to perform at their very best. Athletes will be taught proper speed training, running mechanics, and how to become a more explosive athlete while educating to prevent injuries during training.

Now Offering two different levels - Fundamentals and Advanced 

The fundamentals class is meant to establish a strong foundation and teach our athletes the verbiage and structure of our program.  The Advanced class allows for young athletes to progress and train with other athletes who are at a similar level of development. Athletes need to test into the advanced programming class.  Testing will be completed the first week of each session to establish a base line for each athlete and to determine placement.

Both programs will take place concurrently and feature two days a week (one day dedicated to linear speed and the other dedicated to multi-planar movement).

The tenants of the program will remain the same for both

•             Improved coordination

•             Improved athletic posture and awareness

•             Emphasis on core development

•             Improved running and jumping technique

•             Overall conditioning and improved work capacity

Fall Session Dates:  September 6 – October 20 (no classes September 27 or October 4)

Tuesday and Thursday  5-5:50pm or

Tuesday and Thursday 6-6:50pm

Mandatory parent orientation meeting, Wednesday 9/7 at 6:30pm via Zoom

Winter 1 Session Dates:  November 7 – December 15, 2022
Winter 2 Session Dates:  
January 9 –February 23, 2023

Monday and Wednesday 4:30-5:20 pm or

Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:20pm

Mandatory parent orientation meeting, Wednesday 11/9 at 6:30pm via Zoom


Location:  The J’s Indoor Turf Space

Fees per session: Members $195, Non-Members $290
($15 sibling discount)
($30 discount on each subsequent session after the first session taken; discount given at the time of registration for the second and subsequent sessions)

Youth Strength and Conditioning

Foundations of Strength and Conditioning
Ages 11-16

February 6 - April 30

Tuesdays 7-8 pm; Thursdays 7-8 pm; Saturdays Noon-1 pm; Sundays Noon-1 pm
(participants may attend two sessions of their choice each week)

This program meets in The J's Cross Fit Studio

The 12 week Foundations of Strength and Conditioning Class is perfect for those who want to introduce strength training and performance enhancement to youth ages 11+. Participants will be working on fundamental and foundational movement patterns such as squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, and hinging both with weights and without as appropriate. Classes will run approximately 50-55 minutes and will follow a 12 week format that progresses throughout.

Fee:  $480; with J membership discount $320 (may be paid in two installments)
