Elite Basketball & Leadership Training for Coed Youth Athletes

The Triple Threat Summer Basketball Academy at The J is designed for coed players entering grades 2 through 8 who are serious about improving their game on the court and becoming better leaders off of it.

From July 7–31, 2025, this Monday–Thursday program combines elite skills training, competitive play, film study, and leadership development—led by a proven coaching staff with college, pro, and national-level experience.

This is not your average camp. This is where committed athletes get better in every aspect of the game.

On-Court Development:

• High-level skills training tailored to age and ability (Not for Recreation players)

• Game-speed drills, shooting, ball-handling, and defense

• Competitive scrimmages and situational breakdowns

Off-Court Growth:

• 🎥 Film Room – Learn how to watch the game like a coach

• 🧠 Basketball IQ & Strategy – Understand spacing, timing, reads

• 💬 Leadership Development – Build confidence, communication, and team impact

Schedule by Grade (2025–26 School Year):

Mondays & Wednesdays

• 5:00–6:15 PM – Incoming 2nd Grade (Coed)

• 6:30–8:00 PM – Incoming 5th & 6th Grade (Coed)

Tuesdays & Thursdays

• 5:00–6:15 PM – Incoming 3rd & 4th Grade (Coed)

• 6:30–8:00 PM – Incoming 7th & 8th Grade (Coed)

• Open to: Current Triple Threat athletes and motivated coed youth athletes

• Cost: $155 (Non-Members) / $105 (Members)

Welcome to Triple Threat Basketball, a year-round competitive youth basketball program designed to help boys and girls in 2nd–8th grade develop elite skills, grow their basketball IQ, and learn how to compete at a higher level.

Our program includes:

• Games in competitive leagues and tournaments

Tryout Dates:
📅 August 12, 13, 14, and 17, 2025
📍 Held at The J, 5801 W 115th St, Overland Park, KS
💲 FREE to try out
💵 $325 if selected and roster spot is accepted ($75 J member discount)

All players must pre-register. Attending multiple sessions is encouraged for best evaluation.
Specific tryout days/times for each age division will be listed in the tryout confirmation email.

👦👧 Teams Offered for Fall 2025

• Boys Teams: 2nd–8th Grade
• Girls Teams: 2nd–8th Grade
• Multiple teams may be formed per age group
• Grades may be combined if appropriate
• Players not selected for a team are encouraged to register for one of our seasonal skill clinics

🔷 Team Levels

🔵 Triple Threat Blue/White (Advanced)
Our most competitive level. These teams compete in high-level tournaments and face the top talent in the region. Players must be fully committed to the season schedule and willing to work hard both in practices and games.

🔴 Triple Threat Red (Intermediate)
Perfect for players who are still developing core skills and confidence. These teams compete in local leagues or regional tournaments appropriate for their level and may occasionally face stronger opponents to stretch their abilities.

📍 Practice & Game Locations

• Practices are held in school gyms within 10–15 minutes of The J
• Some teams may practice at The J itself
• Games are primarily in Shawnee Mission School District gyms
• Occasional travel across the Kansas City metro area or abroad

👕 Uniforms

New players will purchase a custom Triple Threat uniform package:
• Jersey
• Shorts
• Shooting shirt

💲 $60 one-time fee
Uniforms may be reused in future seasons if still in good condition.

🧠 Meet the Director – Jason Sautter

Jason Sautter brings a proven championship background and decades of experience to our youth basketball program. His coaching résumé includes:
• 149 NCAA Division I players coached
• 101 professional players developed
• 9 championship teams led

Jason has coached at the professional, college, high school, and elite youth levels. He holds a master’s in education and is passionate about using basketball to shape young lives with purpose and discipline.

Our Head Coaches are former or current collegiate/high school coaches & players, who bring high-level experience and passion to the court — helping every athlete reach their potential.
