2025-26 Skill Builders Basketball
Kindergarten through 5th grade

Skill Builders is The J’s approach to youth basketball featuring quality, consistent coaching by J staff coaches; and practices that are run like skill clinics. While individual skill development is stressed in all divisions; there is a greater emphasis on team and game skills beginning in 2nd grade.
Program Features Include:
· Separate boys and girls divisions
· Sign up individually, but teammate requests accepted
· J Staff coaches - no parent coaches
· Age appropriate equipment
· Games played on weekends
Practice schedules – will be available in mid October
Registration Process - two options
The J is offering two registration options for the Winter Skill Builders Basketball Program. Please read carefully to know which option is best for your child.
Option 1: Register through a team code provided by the team organizer.
This option is for those who are a part of a complete or nearly complete team ( teams should have 5-8 players for a Kindergarten- 2nd grade team and 5-10 players for a 3rd grade and older team. J staff may place free agents on those teams that have less than the team maximum). One parent acts as the team organizer and creates a registration for the group. A team code is generated and the organizer sends out the team code to all those who are a part of this team group. Parents will then register using the Team Registration Module for that grade division and enter the team code when asked during the registration process.
Option 2: Register as a free agent
This option is for those who are registering as an individual or as part of a small group. A small group is up to 4 players. Groups of more than 4 players should use Option 1 above. Those that are a part of a small group will indicate their teammate requests during registration. When asked at the start of the registration for a team code, simply choose no and select registering as a free agent if registering as an individual or as part of a group of 4 or less.
Team Formation – Teams in the Kindergarten through 2nd grade divisions will be limited to 8 players per team and play 4 v 4 games. Beginning with 3rd grade, teams will be limited to 10 players per team and play 5 v 5 games. While we accept teammate requests, please note that if there is a group of players that want to play together that exceeds the player per team limit of a division, we will split the players up into two teams and then fill out the teams with free agents if necessary.

Kindergarten Girls Teams of 8 players; games played 4 on 4 on 8' baskets
1st Grade Girls Teams of 8 players; games played 4 on 4 on 8' baskets
1st Grade Boys Teams of 8 players; games played 4 on 4 on 8' baskets
2nd Grade Boys Teams of 8 players; games played 4 on 4 on 8 1/2' baskets
2nd Grade Girls Teams of 8 players; games played 4 on 4 on 8 1/2' baskets
*3rd/4th Grade Girls Teams of 10 players; games played 5 on 5 on 9' baskets
*3rd/4th Grade Boys Teams of 10 players; games played 5 on 5 on 9' baskets
*4/5th Grade Boys Teams of 10 players; games played 5 on 5 on 10' baskets
*4/5th Grade Girls Teams of 10 players; games played 5 on 5 on 10' baskets
*4th graders should choose the division that best corresponds to their experience and skill level.
SPACE IS LIMITED IN EACH DIVISION
Program Fees:
$200 - Kind - 2nd Grade (with J Member Discount $120)
$215 - 3rd-5th Grade (with J Member Discount $130)
$5 jersey fee for those who do not have a J Skill Builders basketball jersey to use from a previous season/program.
Late Fee: $20 beginning October 20
Refund Policy: $15 cancellation fee charged up until Oct 20; 50% refund after Oct. 20; NO Refunds after Nov. 10.
Program will NOT meet on Nov. 26-27, Dec. 22 - Jan. 1
**Games for all age divisions will be scheduled on Saturday mornings/afternoons and Sunday afternoons Dec. 13 – 14; Dec 20-21; Jan. 10 – Feb. 22. Shabbat observance will be respected when assigning game times.
