Code of Conduct

The J – Parent Code of Conduct

As a proud member of The J Soccer Community, I will:

  1. Support my child with positive encouragement at all times.

  2. Respect and adhere to the ideals, policies, and rules determined by The J and my child’s team.

  3. Maintain self-control and show respectful conduct in all interactions.

  4. Respect the facilities — home or away — where my child is privileged to play.

  5. Show respect for the decisions and authority of referees, coaches, and officials.

  6. Value the feelings and capabilities of my child, teammates, and opposing players.

  7. Model sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude when representing my child, the team, and The J.

  8. Refrain from coaching from the sidelines during training or games.

  9. Follow the 24-hour rule when addressing concerns with a coach, program director, or staff member.

  10. Avoid expressing negative opinions about coaches, players, or officials in front of my child or in public.

  11. Refrain from using foul or abusive language toward anyone at any event.

  12. Never yell at, threaten, or confront referees, coaches, or players before, during, or after games or training.

  13. Use social media responsibly — never to express negativity toward anyone associated with The J.

  14. Accept wins and losses with humility, and encourage my child to do the same.

  15. Never bring alcohol, drugs, or firearms to any J event, game, training session, or team activity.

I understand that failure to follow this Parent Code of Conduct may result in removal from a game, team, or program, as well as other sanctions deemed necessary by The J.

The J – Coach Code of Conduct

The safety, well-being, and healthy development of our players are the highest priorities at The J.
All coaches, staff, volunteers, and representatives of The J will:

  1. Show respect to all involved in the game — players, referees, coaches, staff, parents, and spectators — serving as role models of good sportsmanship.

  2. Promote fair play, high behavioral standards, and adherence to the spirit and laws of the game.

  3. Always respect the referee’s decision. Any concerns will be addressed through appropriate channels, never directly during or after a match in a confrontational manner.

  4. Treat all players equally, regardless of gender, race, religion, or background.

  5. Maintain appropriate physical boundaries with players and respect their right to personal space.

  6. Never be alone with a single player in a private or unobservable setting.

  7. Ensure players are supervised at all times before, during, and after J events, and never leave a child unsupervised until they are picked up.

  8. Never engage in any form of physical, verbal, sexual, or mental abuse.

  9. Use positive guidance techniques such as encouragement, constructive feedback, and age-appropriate expectations — avoiding comparisons or humiliation.

  10. Avoid the use, possession, or influence of alcohol or illegal drugs before or during any J event involving players.

  11. Prohibit smoking, vaping, or tobacco use at any J event or facility.

  12. Never engage in physical or verbal confrontations; profanity is prohibited.

  13. Avoid inappropriate jokes or sharing personal intimate details with players.

  14. Limit electronic and phone communications with players to soccer-specific topics; social networking between coaches and individual players is discouraged.

  15. Model respect, humility, and a commitment to player-centered development in every session, game, and interaction.

I understand that failure to follow this Coach Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, removal from coaching duties, and/or termination from The J’s soccer program.
