2020 J Winter Softball Pitching Development Series

Pitching made simple. Join us for the Jewish Community Center's Pitching Development series.  If you are a beginner or have some experience but desire to refine your skills, you can find benefits from this series.  Learn the fundamentals from the rubber that will make all of your pitches work better; increase your velocity and accuracy through fundamental drills; and create a strong base and work ethic that will help you improve performance while decreasing potential arm injuries. Taught by former collegiate coach, Meredith Smith with a small player to coach ratio.  Timed to help young pitchers prepare for their spring/summer season.  Great opportunity for teams to have their pitchers hit the ground running by the start of the season.  All sessions will take place at the J in the Social Hall (accessed from the J's main entrance off of 115th Street).

Coach Meredith Smith Neal  we be leading our 2020 J Winter Softball Pitching Development Series. Coach Neal previously coached 13 seasons as the head coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, she transformed the UMKC softball program into a formidable contender in the Western Athletic Conference and beyond, becoming one of sport’s up-and-comers in the process.

As a student-athlete, Smith played collegiately at Centre College in Danville, Ky., in 2000. During that season, she tied an NCAA record for most doubles in a single game with five, picked up all-conference honors, and earned a league player of the week award. She then spent one semester at East Tennessee State before transferring to UT, where she was involved with the Panhellenic Council of Pi Beta Phi and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Smith graduated cum laude from Tennessee in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She also holds her master’s degree in sports psychology with a minor in sports management.
